Anti Gravity Beer Bar Trick

Effect: An annoying person returns from the toilet to find that their bottle of beer has been turned upside down wthout any beer falling out.

The bottle is then handed to them, when the beer spills all over the place.

Preparation: You need

A packet of cigarettes.
A full bottle of beer.
A beer mat.
Scissors.
A fast pair of running shoes.

Method: Take the plastic wrapper off the cigarette packet and cut a circle just big enough to cover the rim of the bottle.
Wet the rim and stick the plastic circle on top of the bottle.
Place a beer mat on top of the bottle and holding the beer mat in place, turn the bottle upside down.
Carefully remove the beer mat and the plastic should keep the beer inside the bottle.
When your friend returns, it will look like the beer is defying gravity.
While they are still amazed, ask them to take a seat and hand them the inverted bottle.
Tap the bottom of the beer bottle gently and run as fast as you can as your friend gets soaked with beer.

Free Coin Trick - Quick Sleeve Flick

A coin placed on a spectators hand, vanishes right in front of their eyes with just a quick snap of the magician's fingers. Find out how, with this easy to set up guide to one of the classic and most enjoyable basic moves of coin magic. This move is timeless and you will be able to perform an impressive coin vanish after following this easy guide.

Effect:

Amazing audience reaction because even though it's clear your hand is empty, you appear to have vanished a coin from the spectators hand, right in front of their eyes !!!

You Will Need :

1 coin
A good line of patter
Practice

How To Do The Trick :

Place a coin on spectators hand. Snap your finger and thumb, above the coin to flick it up your sleeve.

1. Place the coin on the back of the spectators outstretched hand.

2. Bring your hand over the spectators hand and with your thumb and forefinger held together, directly over the coin, snap your thumb and forefinger. ( Hold mouse over photo to see next move displayed.)

3. The magician's thumb and forefinger should be positioned so that during the snap, the forefinger will flick the coin up his sleeve

4. The magician can then proceed to roll up his sleeve to show that the coin is not there. ( the coin should be allowed to fall out of the sleeve into the magicians hand at the beginning of the rolling up the sleeve move and kept hidden in the palm.) The spectator should still be baffled at this point and not notice this subtle move .

This trick although deceptively simple, requires practice. If you practice enough to perform this trick smoothly, then you will reap the rewards of performing a very satisfying magic trick.

Handkerchief And Vanishing Coin Trick

Effect : The magician sticks the coin into the handkerchief, turns it over and then the coin disappears from inside the handkerchief.

Secret :You secretly wrap a rubber band around your fingers and thumb.

Then you place the handkerchief in that hand. With your other hand place the coin into the handkerchief.

Then let the rubber band slide off of your fingers and onto the handkerchief, so it surrounds the coin and it is under the handkerchief.

You then slide your hand up to the end of the handkerchief and shake it.

This makes it look like the coin has disappeared.

But it is really stuck in the handkerchief, held by the rubber band.

Place elastic band round fingers Place coin into handkerchief.

1) Place elastic band round fingers. 2) Place coin into handkerchief.

Slip band around coin. Spectators view of handkerchief, coin held with elastic band on other side is not visible.

3) Slip band around coin 4) Spectators view of handkercheif.

M&Ms Torn and Restored Magic Trick

Trick Effect And Routine: Tear a corner from a bag of M&Ms. Pour a few M&Ms into your hand. Then reseal the bag by magically melting the corner back onto the bag.

Magic Trick Preparation: Place a few M&Ms into your" thumb tip"( This is a useful gimmick which can be purchased cheaply from most good magic shops) .You will also need to cut a corner off a different bag of M&Ms.You can place this in your thumb tip or just conceal it behind the bag. This trick is easier to perform if you sharply crease the corner on the bag that you are supposed to rip.

Method: After you show the bag of M&Ms, discreetly slip the plastic thumb tip off your thumb and conceal it behind the bag in your hand (opening facing the corner to be ripped). Remove the extra corner from the thumb tip. Fold the creased corner towards you as you act out the magical illusion of tearing the corner. Pour out the M&Ms from the thumb tip. Secretly replace the extra corner inside the thumb tip as you unfold the creased corner. Use a rubbing motion with your forefinger and thumb to give the impression that you are melting the corner back on the bag.

Slip the thumb tip back on your thumb and your done. Hand out the bag for examination! The patter is up to you, but you can tell a story of a candy crook who never gets caught or use your imagination to come up with some other interesting story with a sweet ending.

Spectators eye view of trick. Magicians eye view of trick. Beware of Wasuupp!! The M&M Muncher

1) Spectators view ............. 2) Magicians view................. 3) Beware of M&M munchers.

Voodoo Ash

Effect: A name is written on a piece of paper on a notepad by the spectator, the paper is torn off unseen by the magician, crumpled up and placed in an ashtray. It is then set alight.

The ashes are then rubbed on the magicians arm and the name of the person written on the paper mysteriously appears.

Preparation: You will need a small notepad, pen, ashtray, lighter and a small piece of soap or wax.

Method: The spectator is asked to write the name of a person or favourite anything of theirs on a notepad.

Then to tear of the sheet of notepaper, crumple it up and place it in the ashtray, where the magician then sets the paper alight.

The magician takes the notepad of the spectator and should be able to see the imprint of the name written on the paper above in the next sheet of the notepad.

Looking at the pad should not be made obvious and some misdirection carried out while he carefully takes the small piece of wax or soap and writes the name on the imprint on his arm or hand (this action should not be visible to anyone ).

The magician can then take some ash from the ashtray and rub it over the wax where it will stick and create an impression of the spectators word to their amazement.

This is a great trick but depends on the magician creating an atmosphere with an entertaining routine and patter about black magic to enhance the effect and create misdirection to allow him time to pull off the trick.

Basic Rules of Magic

here are some basic rules of magic. Break any one of them and you have ruined not only the magical mystery of the effect, but you lose the credibility and respect for taking the time to practice the effect to get it to perfection.

1. Don't EVER tell the secret.

Most people will ask how you do a trick if you did it well. Just say "I never tell my secrets, sorry." Most likely, they won't persist. If they do, just say, "I am sorry, I just can't." Sometimes you can take the pressure off of this by performing another trick. Resist the urge to give in. The fun in magic lies in the secret. Tell them the secret and the mystery and fun is lost.

The masked magician with his "All the Secrets of Magic Revealed" might have gotten good ratings on Fox, but everyone from little children, to adults, to magicians have lost all respect for this man. When you're performing you'll gain respect from the audience, just don't lose it. Trust me. Don't tell the secret. Just don't.

The one exception to this rule is teaching someone who is truly interested in performing magic. I never hesistate to share my secrets with fellow magicians, including people just getting started in magic. If someone is really interested in learning how to perform the trick but they haven't done magic yet, hold off on telling them the secret to that trick, but teach them how to do a different trick -- perhaps one of the magic tricks on this site!

2. Only perform magic in the perfect situations.

Ideally, you should only perform when asked, but if they have never seen any magic before, test the audience out with one trick. Don't ever assault someone by showing them trick after trick.

3. Leave them wanting more.

Part of the fun in magic lies in the audience wanting more. This also assures that you don't overstay your welcome and start to bore someone. Some people like magic more than others, so you will have to experiment with this. This rule is is a classic in showbusiness.

4. Learning one trick very well is better than learning 100 tricks partially well.

The memory of one well performed trick will stick in the memories much better than lots of medicore tricks. Expand your knowledge by learning many tricks, but focus on only a handful to really perfect.

5. Practice to absolute perfection. Then practice some more.

Don't ever perform a trick in front of an audience that you don't know perfectly. This will take hours, sometimes days, and sometimes weeks and months to get a trick working perfectly. Do not compromise.

So you want called a great magician? You want people to call you a great card trick guy? A great magician? A great showman? A great person? A funny guy?

Then trust me on this, follow these rules strictly - and they will.

Cool Coin Trick

ffect:

Your friend reaches into their pocket and grabs a handful of coins and sets them on the table. You turn your back and they pick one coin up, remembering what the date on the coin was.

Then they take the coin and mix it up with the rest of the change. You pick up each coin, and by looking at the date on the coin, are able to figure out which coin they selected.

Secret:

This one is a very cool coin trick. Want to learn how to do this coin trick? Great. The way it works is that when you are picking up the coins in order to "look at the date", what you are actually doing is feeling the heat of the coins. Because of what's called "specific heat" in physics - metals conduct heat better than wood and other materials. It's because of this fact that when someone holds onto a coin for even just 20 or 30 seconds, the heat from their fingers will be transferred to the coin.

So all you have to do is pick up the coins one at a time and pretend to look at the date. So imagine that you pick up a quarter, a nickel, a dime, and a couple pennies. But the coins could even be exotic foreign coins. When you get to the coin that is warm, say something like "This nickel was made in 1983. That's interesting, because in 1983 blah blah blah was going on and I just knew that you'd pick it!

Sometimes, people may pick up on the method, if you don't confuse them a bit by talking about the date. This is one of those tricks that if you play it up right, it can work wonders. If someone does guess that you're just feeling which one is the hottest coin, then sometimes you can get away with directly throwing them off by saying. "I wish it were that easy, but I'm not telling the secret!". That indirectly gets your friend to think that it must be something else, and that you still have a secret that you are keeping!

It's perfect for the dinner table when you go out to eat with a few of your friends, or when you don't have a deck of cards with you and someone asks for you to show them a magic trick! No trick coins required! You asked for a cool coin trick, and you got it!

Feel a Ghost!

Effect:

You are sitting in front of your friend, and no one else is near. You take your index fingers and place them on your friend's eyes as they close their eyes. Then, your friend feels something whisk past their head, then brush on their shoulder, then they feel a tap!

Secret:

This ghost magic trick is one of my all time favorites to teach to people who are just getting started in magic, or, after you do a few other tricks, this is one that you will be able to pass on to your audience members.

No sleight of hand required for this magic trick. Here's how it works.

Step 1) First, have your friend look around the room. Point out that it is only the two of you, but you've been seeing some ghosts lately and you want to do a seance to see if you can conjure up a ghost.

Step 2) Tell your friend you'd like them to close their eyes in a moment. Take both of your index fingers and gently place them on the closed eyelids of your friend. Make sure they see that your index fingers are coming closer to their eyes, and that they close their eyes just about an inch before you touch their eyes.

Step 3) Quick - here's the magic trick part of this -- instead of touching them with both the index fingers, right as they close their eyes, touch them with both the index finger and little "pinky" finger. (Or your thumb and little finger). They will think that both your index fingers are touching their eyes, but now you have one hand free! You can say you're doing this because you want to make sure that your ghost friend doesn't want to bee seen!

Step 4) Now that I've explained the secret, it's important not to go over the edge with this, if you really want it to freak your friends out. First, don't just tap them on the shoulder. Take your hand and just barely whisk it by their ear or gently touch their ear.

Step 5) After you do the slight touch or whisk, bring your hands back to in front of their face, point both index fingers at the eyes, and slowly bring your hands away from their face as you ask them to open their eyes. When they open their eyes, they will see exactly what they saw a moment ago before they closed their eyes. Isn't that what a ghost would do?

Step 6) They'll be pretty freaked out at this point, so they may want to do it again. If they agree, do the exact same thing above, but this time do something slightly different. They'll be waiting for you to tap them or touch their hair again, so do something slightly different, to surprise or catch them off guard. You could rub your fingers together next to their ear -- so they'll hear spooky things -- or you could pull on the shoulder of their shirt. The important thing to do here is not to go overboard, because you don't want to give away that it was your hand doing those things. Make them think that perhaps you could have done something else, maybe you blew on their hair, or maybe you somehow else did it. They'll never know that it wasn't really a ghost!

Here are some other tips to make this trick work. First of all, the secret is pretty simple, so as you read this, you might think that it's not worth trying. Wrong! Actually this is a really strong trick, it's fun because it doesn't use what people may think are trick cards, trick coins, or fancy sleight of hand. So it's a whole different area than many of the other magic tricks we describe on this web site. Also, the venue is important too. If you can wait until a spooky moment -- perhaps after a scary movie, or around Halloween, it will make a more lasting impression. Also, don't give away the secret right away, let it creep them out for a few days. If you do this properly, it'll send chills up their spine every time they think about the trick.

This is a great magic trick to teach kids, because it is fairly easy to do. Also, an alternative is to touch your fingers right above their eyes, or on their eyebrows, but I find the other nice thing about touching their eyes is that it guarantees that they won't try to open them.

Backpalming a Card

Called Backpalming or back palming, learning this magic trick is a must for any magician. Print this page, bookmark us, but you simply must spend some time and learn this magic trick! David Blaine, David Copperfield, Jeff McBride and countless other professional magicians do this. You can too!

Effect:

You can throw cards up into the air and they magically disappear!

Secret:

learn magic tricks

Start with one card, and eventually you can move onto more. Hold the card between your thumb and index and middle fingers. Have the face of this card toward the audience.

David Blaine magic trick

Pretend to throw it up into the air. As you do this, make a fist. Let your fingers slip behind the card, so that now your thumb is pressing against your knuckles and is now holding the card.

Press the two long edges between the knuckles. Your first and middle fingers will hold onto the top long edge, and your little and ring finger will hold onto the bottom edge. Don't worry about bending the card bigtime here.

Release with your thumb and outstretch your fingers. Keep hold of the card. It should now disappear behind your hand. (This is an exposed view. When you do this, keep your fingers together, and slowly keep your hand in motion.)

It is okay if the corners show a little, just keep your hands moving up and down.

To grab a card out of the air, just reverse this process and you can do this several times in a row.

Here is what it should look like from the back:

Will Smith did this in the Men In Black music video.

You can also do this with business cards to impress clients.

Update: This trick has been posted to TrickMagic.com for several years now. Much to my surprise, I had a visitor email me that he actually got a job because of this very trick! In fact, his hiring manager/new boss was so impressed, he not only hired him on the spot, but he paraded the new guy around the office showing everyone this trick!

Like some of the other tricks at TrickMagic.com, there are a couple helpful videos on back palming and producing cards out of the air at MagicTrickVideos.com that you can pick up via instant download for a few dollars.

Is this it? (an easy magic trick)

Effect:

The perfect easy magic trick to learn...

A card is chosen, and lost in the deck. Five cards are taken out of the deck and placed into the spectators fist - between the first and second fingers. The cards are slapped out of the fist, and one card remains. It is the chosen card.

Secret:

Use "Feel the Heat" or the "Classic Force" to lose a card in the deck. If you don't already know these easy ways to find or force a card, then use the left naviagation and for goodness sakes, go learn them! They are also both pretty easy magic tricks to learn.

Look through the deck and grab 4 indifferent cards as well as the selected card.

Place the selected card on the bottom of the stack of these five cards.

David Blaine would love these magic tricks

Place the cards between the first knuckles of the audience memeber's outstreched fist. To make sure you know exactly where to place the cards, I will try to explain a little further.

If someone was going to punch you with their fist, and this was all going in slow motion, you could fit cards into their fist. Just imagine yourself sliding in the cards between the cracks in their knuckles. This is where the cards go. (Easy so far?)

Count to three "One, Two, Three!!"

Slap the cards like you were giving someone five. Smack! The bottom card is the one that will stay in the fist. You have to hit it fairly hard, but still be gentle.

Obviously, this is one magic trick you will have to practice on yourself to get both the right fist tension and the slapping motion down. But in reality, it is a pretty easy magic trick to do.

Turn over the last remaining card. Is this it? Hopefully you can come up with a better saying for this trick like!

THIS IS AMAZING! THE ONE FINAL CARD REMAINING IS MIRACULOUSLY YOUR CARD WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY LOST IN THE DECK! I SWEAR IT HAS GOT TO BE A MIRACLE! WOW!

This is a perfect trick to teach to kids because it involves some action, some complexity, but it really is pretty simple and easy to do.

Feel the Heat

Effect:

The cards are spread out between the magician's hands and the spectator is instructed to take a card from anywhere in the pack. The card is replaced and the deck is squared. By "feeling the heat" on the backs of each of the cards, the magician is able to tell which was the last card selected.

Read on for a few cool variations. You can practically do the same trick three times with three different endings and it will seem like three completely different tricks!

Secret:

First, let your friend shuffle the deck. Shuffling always adds to an already good card trick. Fan the cards out in the best way that you know how, and ask your friend to select any card from anywhere in the entire deck. As they take it out, square up the deck. Cut the deck somewhere in the middle, taking the top half with your right hand. Tell them to look at their card and remember it.

Learn Magic Tricks

Outstretch your left hand, and have them set the card down on that half of the deck. While they are doing this, or while they were looking at their card, whichever is less obvious, glimpse the card on the bottom of the pack in your right hand...and remember it! Instruct them to place their card face down on that packet in your left hand. Drop the right hand-packet on top of the left-hand packet. Once again, hand the deck to your friend and tell them to cut the deck and complete the cut. They can do this as many times as they want, but only single cuts at a time. (This will not affect the order of the cards.) Take the deck back.

What you have just done is placed a key card right above their card. You don't know the identity of their card, but since you know the card right above it, it is almost as good! Now, there are several finishes to this trick. All of your work is practically done, and here is where your acting ability is put to use. Make these finishes as dramatic as possible, act as if you yourself are amazed, and what an incredible sleight-of-hand artist you are.

Feel the Heat:

Pretend to feel the heat that they left on the card when they touched it. Set the deck down and slowly feel the back of each card, turning them over and tossing them, face up, into a pile off to the side. They will be watching your eyes, so do NOT look at the pile. Instead, stare at the face down deck, and use your side vision to just glimpse the card. Pretend to be concentrating on the face down deck. The longer it takes, the more dramatic it can be. When you see the "key card" tossed off to the side, pause. Take a deep breath. Say "this is it!", and let them turn over the next card. They will be amazed.

Feel the pulse:

A great variation, although it's pretty much the same trick, the audience will think it is a different trick entirely. Just don't do these two tricks directly in a row.

Spread the cards face up across the table. Ask your friend to point with his index finger. Grab their wrist as if you are going to feel their pulse increase as their finger slides across their card. Make several passes back and forth across the spread. Slowly slow down the motion and stop on the card that is directly above the "key card." Touch their finger to their card. They will think you can really feel their pulse increase. They will be amazed.

A Gambling Variation: (how to make money with this trick)

A great way to get your friends to like you! If you get real good at the Feel the Heat ending, try this: Instead of stopping at the key card, go about seven cards to far in the deck. Say "The next card I turn over will be your card. Wanna bet on it?" Of course they will, because they already saw you pass their card. (Make a reasonable bet like under 5 bucks, and make sure they will pay you, because I am assuming that you are honest and will pay them if you mess this up - which might happen occasionally for some reason or another.) Get them to put their money out on the table. Reach into the face up pack, and turn their card face down. A little sneaky, but now you are 5 bucks richer. DON'T keep the money. Give it back. They will know you are a true friend and they will like you, and they will never be bitter about the trick. Trust me, don't keep the money. If you win the money from a real jerk, just give the money to a cute little kid. They will appreciate it the most - and that's just the kinda person you are.

Cross Cut Card Force

(A force is a way to force your audience member to take a specific card. You force them the card! But it will seem like a completely free choice)

Effect:

The magician (that's you!) writes a prediction. The spectator cuts to a card. The magician's prediction matches the card!

Or you can force any card onto the spectator and then use your imagination to create your own incredible ending!

Secret:

As you shuffle the deck, glimpse the bottom card. Set the deck down in front of the spectator. Write down the card you saw on the bottom as the prediction. Put it on the table far enough away from you so that no one will suspect that you switched predictions.

Tell the spectator to cut the deck in half. Have them set the top half next to the bottom half. Pick up the bottom half and place it on top of the top half, but rotated 90 degrees.

cross cut force learn magic tricks

Say that you are "marking the cut."

Now here is the hardest part. Look at them in the eye and wait for eye contact. You must get them to look away from the deck so they forget which pile is which. Point to the prediction to remind them that you predicted they cut to a card.

Time is on your side. You need to pause for a few moments, just long enough that they'll forget which pile was which.

To show them the card that they cut to (not really but they will think it is) pick up the top half (previously the bottom half) and turn it face up.

Take a step back. Point to that card. Say, "Okay, you selected the three of diamonds." Now turn to the spectator and have them pick up the prediction... and of course it matches!

Once you learn how to force a card on someone, there are all kinds of things you can do with the prediction. Place the prediction in a fortune cookie! Write it on a dollar bill in small print and give it to your friend in advance as change from some money you owed him. Put the name of the card on your friend's screensaver. The magicial possibilities really are endless when you can predict the future like this - even if it is you just using a simple way to force a card.

Although this magic trick will work on adults, this is a perfect kids magic trick.

Color Changing Aces

Effect:

The red aces magically switch places with the black aces. Remember - good magic is simple!!

Secret:

First, remove all of the aces from the deck. Set the rest of the deck to the side.

Show that there are four aces, and explain that two are red and two are black.

Ask a volunteer from the audience open their hand.

Set up the aces black, red, black, red.

Do a double lift (this is where you pick up the top two cards from the deck but hold them together so that they look like only one card).

Show these two cards as a red ace. Set both cards down on the packet and slide the top card off. Say "Red." as you place this black card into their outstretched palm.

Now slide the top card (red) to the left a little bit as you grab the bottom two cards in your right hand and show them as one. (Is this called a bottom lift?) Set both cards back down on the packet and slide the top card off. Say "Red." as you place this black card into their palm.

Place the other two cards onto the table as you say "Black." pause "Black."

Now for the fun part. Do something magical to make them think that you are performing some real magic. Wave your hands over the cards. Have them rub the cards on the table, or between their palms.

Now ask the volunteer to flip the cards face up. Of course they are black.

Say "If these are the black cards, these must be red." Flip over the red cards and bow to the applause. You've just performed the color changing aces!

Effect:

The red aces magically switch places with the black aces. Remember - good magic is simple!!

Card in Pocket

Effect:

The magician puts the whole deck into his pocket and eventually pulls out the one "freely" chosen card by the volunteer.

Secret:

This is a psychological card force. First, look at either the top or bottom card in the deck and remember it.

You will force them to pick this card. Here's how it works.

Choose a color...red or black.

Let's assume the card is the seven of diamonds. If they say red say Great! and move on. If they say black, say "Great! that leaves...Red..right"

"Okay red it is"

Now let's decide if we want it high or low. "When I snap my fingers you say high 7,8,9,10, Jack, Queen, King or low Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

"If they say low, say Great! Low is elimanted! If they say Red, say "Great! Red it is!"

Are you getting the hang of this?

Then just have them name a few different cards in the last step. Proceed as you did above. Narrow it down to the one card.

Remember, stay excited about their choices, don't ever hesitate. Although this trick has a simple secret, it is very difficult to do flawlessly and without pause or hesitation.

In the end, pull the one card out of your pocket as you pretend to feel around the shuffled deck for it.

Voila! The seven of diamonds!

Card Between the Jokers

This might be the best magic trick on all of TrickMagic.com. It's been featured on magic.about.com, and even in magic classes by other magicians. This is a twist on a classic card trick that I've created, so you won't find it anywhere else. Take some time and learn this trick.

Effect:

The cards are spread out between the magician's hands and the spectator is instructed to touch one card somewhere in the middle of the pack. The touched card is turned face up. The deck is squared up, and the spectator cuts the deck several times. The jokers found the card! One joker is on top of the card, and one joker is right below the selected card. Truly a card masterpeice!

Secret:

First, get the jokers on the top and bottom of the deck as you shuffle the cards (you can pretend to count the cards to "make sure they are all there" or something.) Don't make it obvious. Once the jokers are on the top and bottom of the pack, do a couple fake shuffles. You can do a quick overhand shuffle and just leave the two cards in their place. Every good card trick becomes much better with a good shuffle.

Now, spread the cards out between your hands (like you would if you were fanning the cards in your two hands). Ask the spectator to TOUCH one card.

learn magic tricks

Then you just outjog it about an inch. (This means move their card toward them, but it still remains in the deck). Now if they touched a card near the middle, you should have about half the cards held in the left hand, and half in the right - but still in the fanned/spread out position. This is the hard part.

magic tricks

Use the cards in your right hand to push down on the right side of the selected card and the left hand's cards to push up on the left side of it.

david blaine would like this trick

This should flip the selected card face up.

Square up the cards, have the spectator cut the deck as many times as they want (single cuts only).

Now spread the the cards out again and set them on the table. Pause. Say something like "Ohhhhhh the seven of diamonds!" Right now you should have their card sandwiched between the jokers, and the hard work is done.

Now it's time for the fun. Wave your hands over the deck and do something that looks a little magical. Have a member of the audience speak to the deck and say "Jokers...Find the Card!!"

Now build up the drama...
If you're using a table, move the three cards forward away from the rest of the deck. Turn all the other cards face up to show that there are no jokers in either pile. "No Jokers Here. No Jokers in this pile either!" Have them turn over the card right above and the card right below the face up card. Yes, the jokers have found the card!

Extra tip on making this magic trick even more successful... give all the credit to the jokers. A round of applause for the jokers. Thank the jokers personally.

Cards from Mouth

Effect:

After producing cards from the air one by one, you need a good finish. This is one great finish to backpalming cards and producing them from thin air.

You point to your empty mouth and reach inside. Instantly a mouthful of cards pour out.

This is also a good finish to springing the cards from hand to hand.

Secret:

This is another great fun trick that keeps the audience in a good mood.

The mechanics of this trick are fairly simple, although the timing and misdirection are what is going to be the part you will need to focus on when you practice this.

Palm about 20-30 cards in your right hand. Leave this hand at your side. Do this when the attention is on something else, at the end of a previous trick, or after you have produced cards from thin air.

Point to your mouth with your left hand and open your eyes really big.

As you start to open your mouth, bring your right hand up to your face and simply push the cards about halfway into your mouth. Immediately let the cards spill out and use your left hand to grab them as they come pouring out.

**Warning for your Health** don't use anyone else's cards for this. First of all, they don't want their cards in your mouth. And more importantly, you don't know how many dirty and grimy hands have touched their cards. You don't want to make yourself sick. The two times I have done this effect at a restaurant where I do magic nightly (with my own cards) after working for a couple of hours. Many people have touched the cards, and I don't know why I put them into my mouth. Anyway, BOTH times, I was sick within a day or two afterward. Coincidence? I don't know, but it sure wasn't worth it enough to try it again to find out for sure. Yuck!

Card Magic Trick - The Jack Robbers

Effect:

The four Jacks act as robbers who succesfully rob a bank (the deck) and make a miraculous getaway! Each jack goes into a different place in the deck, and as the police come, they all rise to the top and get away! This is a great beginner card magic trick!

Secret:

First, prepare for the trick by removing the four jacks, as well as three indifferent cards. Position the four jacks fanned out in your right hand with the three indifferent cards behind the last jack.

To your audience, this should look like only four jacks. (I hid those other cards behind the Jack of Clubs in this picture.)

magic tricks

As you show the jacks, say "Let me tell you a little story about how the jacks robbed a bank. They parachuted to the roof of the bank late at night when the bank was closed." Place all seven cards (the four jacks, and then on top of those are the three indifferent cards) on the top of the face down deck. It should look like you just placed four jacks ontop of the deck.

Say "The first jack went to the basement and stole all the jewels." Take the top indifferent card and slide it into the deck near the bottom. Don't let the audience actually see this card. Remember that they just saw them, and don't make this sneaky.

Say "The second jack went to the first floor and stole all the money." Take the next card (the one on top of the deck now) and place it into the middle of the deck.

Say "The third jack went to the top floor and stole all the gold." Place the third indifferent card near the top of the deck.

Say "The last jack stayed on the roof and kept an eye out for the police". Pick up the last jack and casually flash the face of the jack to the audience. Make it look like this wasn't deliberate, and only show it so that they barely see it. (What we want to do here is create the impression that you showed them all the other jacks as they recreate this trick in the mind later.)

Say "Then the cops came! Lucky for the jacks, the last jack had a whistle and blew it as he jumped up and down on the roof." Illustrate this with the top jack by picking it up and having it merrily dance around.

Say "All the jacks rushed to the top and escaped into their helicopter:" As you do this, one by one flip over the jacks on the top of the deck and toss them onto the table face up. It is a little cooler if you can do this and make them spin a little as they land because it adds to the effect.

Classic Force

Effect:

You fan the cards and the spectator takes the one card that you already know the identity of. The possibilities are endless for what you can do with this.

Secret:

First, a little history on this trick...

Many beginner magicians do not try this because they think it takes too much practice. That is the secret to this trick. Every time you are having someone pick a card, you should try to force a card to them.

If you miss and they pick another card, have a different trick ready so that it doesn't look like you messed up. If they take the card, great! You are ready to perform a miracle.

Read their mind, locate the card, pull a prediction out of your shoe with that card on it, etc...

Here's how to do the classic card force...

Start with the card you want to force on top of the deck. Cut the deck in your hands so that the top card(force card) is now near the middle of the deck and fan the cards. As you do this, keep an eye on where this top card is. Naturally it is spaced out a little more than the rest of the cards. Fan the cards with two hands. It's okay if there is a natural gap, that will help you keep your eye on the force card. If you want, you can even put a light pencil mark on the card as you are starting to learn this trick.

Start to move the cards from the left into your right hand by pulling them over with your right thumb.

Timing is the key to this. Ask the person to pick a card, as they reach up to pick a card, time it so that at about this time you get to the card you want them to take and make it easy for them to take this card. Nonchalantly spread the cards a little more and guide this card right into their outstretched finger tips.

Practice this and you can do it anwhere, with any deck of cards, under all kinds of conditions. I love it! You will too.

There are a couple of other good ways to force a card, and they are explained at MagicTrickVideos.com for just a few dollars. Pay for the trick, and you have instant access to a video explanation.

Springing the Cards

Effect:

Ever seen a magician spring cards from hand to hand? Sure you have! They did it on Friends (but Rachel was using a trick deck). And you always see pictures of magicians doing this. But when you try, they all seem to fall to the ground. There are some subtle secrets to doing this right. Ready to learn?

Here's how you can impress your friends.

Secret:

Hold the deck in your right hand and bend the cards so that they bow inward to your hand. Let them slide and spring off your thumb. It will sound like you flipped through the deck really quick. Your hand will go from the shape of a "c" to the shape of a swan (if you are making shadow puppets on the wall) by the time you are done.

This trick does take a lot of practice, but here's how you need to learn it:

Start off by just springing the cards. Try to keep it nice and even. Just work on this for awhile until you can kind of control where the cards are going.

Next, spring them into your left hand. But do this really close together. Practice with your left hand up against your chest as a backdrop as the cards shoot into it.

Now this is the cool part that most people don't know. Use your pinky of your left hand as a stopper. Your left hand will look like you are waving to someone, but the pinky will be pointing straight toward the cards. This works great! No one really even notices this when you do it, and it just works perfectly.

Now slowly move away from your chest with the cards.

As you get better, bring your hand further and further apart.

When you are springing the cards, start with your hands close together, move them apart, and then at the end bring them back together.

This is a fun trick, but the sound WILL get annoying while you practice to any family members, roommates, co-workers, or cellmates. This shouldn't be too much of a problem, but if you really DO have cellmates, I wouldn't suggest doing this trick.

Mistake Card Force

Effect:

A spectator names a number from 10 to 30 and the magician counts down to the card. Amazingly it matches the previously written prediction, or you have just forced a spectator to take a card that you already know what it is, so you can proceed with your own variation.

Secret:

You must pretend to mess up for this to work. Place the card that you want to force to them in the seventh position in the deck.

Ask them to name any number from 10 to 30.

For example, they say 16.

Start counting cards down onto the table into a pile. One, two, three, four,...Keep counting but go past 16. 16 + 7 = 23. So go to 23 and say, "Whoops. I went to far...here you better do it! It'll be more fair that way anyway!" Pick up the 23 cards and put them back on the deck.

What you have just done is placed the force card in the exact position of the card they are going to stop on!

Have them do exactly what you were supposed to do and when they get to number 16 that will be the card.

Very cool idea for how to force a card, huh?
